As the design partner for Levity Live’s Improv venues, Westgroup Designs was brought in to help the San Jose Improv team with a unique opportunity to update the appeal of the venue interior while maintaining key architectural details.
Built in 1904, the “Jose Theater” is a designated City of San Jose Historical Landmark. Following its original renovation in 2003, the theater was developed as an Improv and decades later, was in need of a refresh.
We created a classic but edgy new appeal. From the entry, with its high impact first impression for patrons, the theatre lobby is finished with Carrara marble flooring, plush carpet, deco-inspired lighting and custom wrought-iron railings that match the design of the exterior balcony railings, to connect the interior to the exterior aesthetic.
Moving through the mezzanine and into the Theater, new flooring, wall, ceiling and furniture finishes create a modern club appeal while paying respect to the history of the building and it’s century of entertainment memories.
