It is the most wonderful time of the year! Each year, Westgroup Designs is delighted to continue participating in programs which benefit and support our community’s at-risk youth in Orange County. Through Share Our Selves and WeCare, both social services organizations that focus on outreach to those in need, we delivered holiday cheer to children and their families!

WD participated in the annual We Care event, sponsored by Herman Miller, benefiting the Boys & Girls Club of Tustin. We Care allows children to let their creativity shine by making holiday gifts for their family, teachers and friends at a variety of craft stations. For many of the children, this is the only way they can provide gifts to their loved ones. This year we created Edible Snowmen; a clever and creative craft that includes a warm pair of gloves the gift recipient can wear all season long!

We are also honored to continue participating in the Share Our Selves Adopt-A-Family program, celebrating its 50th year supporting many struggling families by providing gifts and food for the holidays. This year, more than 1,440 families and 4500 children, recommended by Costa Mesa and Santa Ana organizations and schools, would not normally receive gifts or have enough food for the holidays. Through the generous donations of WD staff and our firm, another family will experience joy, comfort and the relief of knowing that so many care, and together we all help to transform our community.

We continue to support the cause, honoring all that are affected, by giving back through community philanthropy!

Most recently, WD collaborated with Common Thread for the Cure, the nonprofit organization that provides assistance to breast cancer patients and survivors, to design these custom wine labels using this year’s theme: “The Warrior Within”. The selected wine labels will be produced on two wine varietals and proceeds from the sales, by Russian River Winery, fund the grants provided to persons fighting the battle and their families, and to lend a voice to ongoing support efforts. Many thanks to our Sponsor, Bobby Trujillo and Global Furniture Group for the support and partnership!

On September 21st, The WD crew volunteered with the Orange County CoastKeeper, a nonprofit clean-water organization that serves as a proactive steward for our water ecosystems. To celebrate their 35th Annual Coastal Cleanup Day, our team spent the day picking up trash along our Southern California beaches. In just our segment, 333 cigarette butts, 491 foam fragments, and 482 plastic pieces were collected amongst other forms of trash.

With an impressive number of volunteers, 110 miles of coastline was cleaned up on this day, unifying counties throughout California!

Elevating the community is vital part of what we focus on each day with our staff, clients and industry partners- by volunteering with events like this, and through the details in every design project we take on, which make a difference in the way our clients live, work, play and heal.

Orange County CoastKeeper’s Mission: To protect the region’s water resources so they are swimmable, drinkable and fishable for present and future generations.

Westgroup Designs celebrates the success of their client, Alignment Healthcare, being touted as the ‘Fastest Growing OC-based Private Company’ on the Orange County Business Journal’s 2019 List.

The 110,000 sf headquarters for this National organization was designed in 3 phases on 5 floors in Orange, CA.  Previously located in several smaller offices, this new design brings the 400-person staff  together under one roof, providing a unique work environment for both their healthcare and administrative professionals. The dynamic, progressive office space features diverse work and amenity zones planned for private, open, team, social and training functions, bolstered by sophisticated digital technology. Promoting knowledge sharing and a collaborative work ethic, many spaces also have dual functions for creative flexibility. This planning and design concept continues to work well, allowing this “patient-centric” organization to grow as they do their best work on behalf of the communities they serve.

Channeling Our Inner Powers at the Annual Bocce Ball Tournament, WD Team 'Stranger Throws' participates in raising over $10,000 for Local Charities.

Westgroup Designs had a totally rad time invoking 80’s summer vibes for the Annual Bocce Ball Charity Tournament at the Back Bay in Newport Beach on the afternoon of Thursday August 8th. Our team, Stranger Throws, was inspired by Netflix’s hit show, Stranger Things. Stranger Things' third season tagline is "One Summer Can Change Everything". Although the TV series is referring to a seemingly unbeatable sci-fi monster, we were inspired by the tagline to help make a positive difference for our community! The awesome Bocce Ball event was hosted by People Space and Haworth for the 10th year in a row, bringing together competing teams from architecture/design, construction and real estate companies in Orange County with manufacturer’s sponsorships, to raise over $10,000 for local charities.

One summer can truly change everything!

Westgroup Designs continues to secure DSA approval, bidding and construction as the campus project advances. These actions have resulted in a total of $6 Million in matching funds from the State of California reserved for the new construction of the Career Technical Education Facility on the Fillmore High School campus.

Westgroup Design’s architectural solution will bring two new CTE buildings to the campus that will support Transportation (i.e. automotive) and Agriscience/Agricultural Mechanics pathways. The facilities will give students hands-on experience with state-of-the-art automotive diagnostics and repair equipment, greenhouse horticulture, and wood, metal and CNC fabrication.

“It’ll be a breath of fresh air onto the campus and into the community,” said Superintendent Dr. Adrian Palazuelos, and will allow the District “…the ability to realize the dream of creating the facility that our students deserve.”

As part of Fillmore USD’s facilities improvement efforts at Fillmore High School, Westgroup Designs is overhauling the campus electrical infrastructure to support future projects, such as a new Gymnasium, Performing Arts Center, and Administration, as well as modernization of existing classrooms.

In addition to work with Fillmore USD, Westgroup Designs is currently finishing construction of two High School campuses for Garden Grove USD that was made possible by $40 million of State AB 300 seismic replacement funds WD’s fast-track design solution secured. The construction is more than 85% complete, with the work phased to allow the campus to remain open without the need of interim housing.
