Westgroup Designs transformed a 25,000 SF floor plate in Irvine Company’s Market Place Center from a dated, traditional closed, dark space into a progressive, flexible environment for Toll Brothers’ West Coast headquarters.With a focus on flexibility, interaction, connection and hospitality, the new office welcomes an industrial aesthetic with warm color palette and residential-style accents to reflect the home-builder’s vision. The space also features a dividable training and presentation room with glass wall which completely opens to the multi-functional entertainment area for events.

Westgroup Designs recently relocated our headquarters to integrate our strategic planning and growth initiatives with a greater dynamic and immersive experience, suited to support our diverse clientele from various industries, empower employees, enhance collaboration, embody our values, and with a timeless design strategy, pave the way for a resilient future.

Our new workplace, in Irvine Company’s Newport Gateway campus, provides optimal daylighting from windows on all elevations which we utilized to provide visual transparency through to the interior office core by use of glass partitions and strategically placed solid partitions, enhancing connectivity, productivity and creating a sense of unity.

In developing our office design, creating a comfortable, dynamic and engaging environment was a priority. This was our foundation for optimal function of open modular work areas, private and flex meeting, learning and social amenity areas; and having support and collaboration zones, all within our managed construction budget, applied strategically and evenly across the floor. Beyond reflecting who we are, our branded environment also tells the story about who our clients are, what they do and why it matters – in essence, our purpose, which is critical to understand for our innovation and high performance.

Our workplace environment, highlighted by graphics, technology, displays and amenities are the basis of Westgroup Designs’ internal culture; essentially, our staff and client experience.

Moxtra Headquarters

Westgroup Designs worked with Moxtra, a software development company, creator of digital automation platform Moxo, to assist them with design for their Orange County headquarters in support of their expanding global business. After significant evaluation of multiple properties, the team determined that Irvine Company‘s Innovation Office Park would be ideal to house Moxtra‘s marketing and sales teams, which continued to grow during the design process. The flexible, creative, open design encompasses the first floor, with key meeting, presentation and amenity spaces, and is one of the first tenants in this office park, serving as an example of the progressive, yet simple, industrial style possible in the “glass jewel box“. Siting the feature collaborative and social spaces adjacent to the rollup doors for inside/outside gatherings, the various support areas are strategically located inboard, providing a wash of daylight and clear visibility from one window wall to the opposite window wall in both the north/south and east/west directions. A sophisticated neutral palette of natural-look finish materials and color, including walnut wood, Carrara stone, concrete, glass and metal form the key aesthetic, allowing for Moxtra’s artwork selections to be incorporated, as new pieces are acquired. Moxtra has also allowed the landlord and their future potential tenants to tour the office, sharing the design as an example of successful first generation creative space.

Confidential Office Space Headquarters

Westgroup Designs is remodeling the Headquarters Building for a trusted client, a local developer who wanted a new brand image for their headquarters which reflects the strength of their business and construction savvy, in an “industrial construction” style with natural materials of stone, concrete, metals and wood. The head-turning curb appeal creates a WOW factor while strategic systems design, architectural and interior design and structure will increase the building's resilience, and focus on sustainable materials and processes. The new workspace will feature a new elevator, main stair, interior atrium, large indoor/outdoor event cafe and a large fitness center.
With an opportunity to expand and rework all interior spaces, including an atrium with Kalwall skylight, we reimagined the office, enhancing flexibility and amenity areas with a pub-style café which opens to a new covered entertainment patio, a 30 seat training room with glass partition open to a collaborative lounge space, a 2,000 square foot fitness center, open office work areas and glass front offices to maximize interior daylight.

GHD Headquarters

WD completed this 20,000 SF west coast headquarters for GHD, an International Energy Engineering Management Company in the Irvine Spectrum. When creating a new environment for a corporate client’s headquarters, of primary importance is to consider what makes this company stand out among its competitors. Establishing a unique voice for their brand first required WD to consider the experience our client wished to have in this new space and how it would support their mission statement and story, all supported by a functional and efficient plan.

Ultimately, the branding that a company adopts determines how it presents itself to its staff, clientele and its public presence. Here, GHD is well-positioned for success and growth, with a great story to tell!

Google Orange County Headquarters

Google was the last piece of the puzzle, so we came in and solved it by designing a LEED Platinum creative office that cost less and transformed the neighborhood.
The construction carried an even deeper impact, however: The search engine behemoth’s OC Headquarters was the last element to close the undefined space of the existing IMPAC Center campus, a collection of office buildings and a freestanding restaurant. Loosely organized on a vehicular approach, the area fell prey to awkward geometries, limited pedestrian social interaction and underutilized space. IMPAC needed a plaza make over, and it needed one quickly without exceeding budget. Our solution? We designed the architectural language of the Headquarters to be a cohesive addition to the existing campus, successfully molding a central public green space. Both inviting and functional, the new building and radical design of the plaza provides an opportunity for the business community to increase interactivity.

b.glen, the moniker for Beverly Glen Laboratories, is an International skin care company focused on women’s wellness. For their west coast US headquarters in Huntington Beach, the client’s strategic goal was to maximize efficiency and prepare for long-term growth, while maintaining a creative space that would be inspiring and dynamic. This focus benefits all staff, where teams would enjoy different views throughout the day and evening, as some groups work extended hours to serve their largest client base in Japan, whose time zone is 16 hours ahead.

Rather than a scientific or healthcare aesthetic, the company leadership asked us to combine their love of California coastal living with the simple, architectural style of the Japanese culture, incorporating progressive technology. Westgroup Designs successfully embraced their functional needs and aesthetic appeal seamlessly. Efficient workstation team areas for sales staff are balanced and integrated with multiple open, casual areas where the creative teams work on branding and concepts.

With a transparent approach to communication, WD featured shoji-inspired lattice style framed glass partitions in black finish for meeting spaces, and maintained the open feeling, with strategically placed acoustical clouds, and decorative lighting and finishes with soft shapes and warm textures and tones. Digital technology systems and equipment, such as automated systems and screen presentation spaces are highlighted in both private and shared areas, offset by hands-on display and collaboration tools, such as white board walls and pin-up boards.
Having a hands-on client team as part of the design process along the way provided the necessary collaboration to achieve success together, fulfilling b.glen’s corporate philosophy of working together to deliver the right solutions.

Emmes Realty | Porch & Swing

Westgroup Designs worked with Emmes Realty in the recently updated Centerview campus in Irvine, to design a full-service restaurant for operator, Porch and Swing. Collaborating with the impassioned restaurant concept owner, who has roots in Charleston, South Carolina and a celebrity following in Los Angeles, we translated his vision of the east coast low country vibe into the feature dining destination, with a bar and dining space which opens to the shared plaza.

A mix of industrial “chic” metal hardware and fixtures, combine with textural tile flooring, decorative cement tile detail, painted wood panels and rustic detailing, frame the dining and lounge area filled with comfortable, casual seating.

Folding glass wall panels wash the dining room with light, and open to integrate outdoor dining and walk-up service bar areas.

A private dining room features direct kitchen access and is fitted with simple detail, also enhanced with natural light and access to the outdoor patio.

The kitchen is a model of efficiency and simple function, while smartly finished in a bright palette of white and grey for low maintenance and the occasional tour from the proud Executive Chef. A true collaboration with the building owner, operator, construction team and WD, the environment reflects the philosophy of the concept; to deliver stellar product prepared with the highest quality ingredients with an environment that is relaxed, modern and always inviting. A well-deserved tribute to its roots, with true southern hospitality.

Panasonic Avionics are experts in delivering amazing in-flight entertainment experiences for passengers. They brought Westgroup Designs on board to design the same high caliber experience of the Panasonic brand at their global headquarters..

Panasonic Avionics Corporation (PAC) has been the leader in the in-flight entertainment and communications industry for over 35 years. Every year, more than 500 million passengers enjoy an amazing entertainment experience flying onboard Panasonic-equipped aircraft. Panasonic Avionics wanted to make strategic improvements to their 18-acre global headquarters located in Lake Forest, California (PAC Campus) as part of a larger initiative to help grow and retain their talented staff and business relationships. They partnered with Westgroup Designs to leverage our similar expertise in creating experiential environments to enhance the overall experience on the PAC campus, unify all seven buildings, and reinforce the Panasonic brand.Providing workplace strategies, programming, interior design and environmental graphic design services, Westgroup Designs is remodeling 8,500 sf of underutilized lobby and common spaces at seven buildings on the PAC campus. We are transforming the forgotten spaces into multi-functional environments that encourage employees and visitors to collaborate, lounge and play in while connecting all buildings on the PAC campus with the Panasonic brand.

The design’s guiding principles pay homage to Panasonic Avionics’ expertise in creating in-flight experiences:
• Engage. Activities to collaborate with colleagues and guests on your way to your final destination.
• Entertain. It’s not just about the first time you fly, but every time you fly. That same approach should apply to the experience of visiting the PAC campus.
• Connect. You should feel a sense of belonging when in each building, both part and parcel of the whole “world” of Panasonic Avionics, from the company brand and culture to life on the PAC campus.

The specific execution of each building’s design is tied to one of Panasonic’s Seven Basic Business Principles, which also corresponds to a different activity in each space: Contribution to Society, Fairness & Honesty, Cooperation & Team Spirit, Untiring Effort for Improvement, Courtesy & Humility, Adaptability, and Gratitude. Regardless of which hub you visit, and the unique experience you have there, the environment communicates the same story about the Panasonic brand: Who We Are (Panasonic’s visual identity), What We Do (Create in-flight entertainment experiences), and How We Do It (Panasonic’s Seven Basic Business Principles).

The result? A design that creates a multi-layered brand experience on the PAC Campus that is greater than the sum of its parts. Westgroup Designs creates seven active hubs that engage, entertain and connect visitors to create unique, individual experiences that are simultaneously connected by a collective brand experience as a way to unify the whole campus.

Enjoying the office experience we created for their Culver City headquarters in 2017, Emerald Expositions asked WD to design a new office in New York for the expanding event management company.

As the LA area office design concept focused on CONNECTIVITY AND FLEXIBILITY, two key attributes which allow the activity-based space to seamlessly adapt to various uses and technology, the concept for the New York office followed suit in its own way. Space is at a premium in the City, so, this office was planned to cleverly cater to staff needs with adaptable spaces, incorporating the vibe of the city with visual texture and pattern. A new LED adjustable lighting system backing up a workspace and support areas awash with daylight makes for an energetic backdrop to the creative group’s inspirational ideas for their clients.

Emerald Expositions is a leading operator of business-to-business trade shows in the United States. Currently operating more than 55 trade shows, as well as numerous other face-to-face events. In 2017, Emerald’s events connected over 500,000 global attendees and exhibitors and occupied more than 6.9 million NSF of exhibition space.
